Woman gets two life sentences for sexual abuse | News

A Limestone County woman will spend the rest of her life behind bars.

Suzanne Bennison learned her fate Tuesday morning. She was convicted earlier this year of sexually abusing and torturing her 6 year old daughter in 2008.

The girl, now 10 and living outside Alabama, testified at Bennison's trial in June. She recalled graphic incidents of sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her own mother.

Bennison had two previous felony convictions on her record. Under Alabama law, life was the only sentence that Limestone County Circuit Judge James Woodruff Jr. could impose.
