Police to teach women's self-defense class | Events
The Athens police department will hold a free women’s self-defense class on September 17.
Greg Parnell of the police department will instruct women on how to defend themselves with common sense and some basic practical moves. Students will learn the basics of avoiding conflict, protecting themselves, defending against and disarming an armed attacker, counterattacking and escaping.
The class will last from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will be located at the gym of the Friendship United Methodist Church on Lucas Ferry Road. Space is limited to the first twenty participants. Participants should wear comfortable clothes. Registration is free, but donations will be accepted for the Child Advocacy Center.
