Court date set for doctor facing drug charges | Crime

Dr. Kevin Scott Uren will go to trial on drug charges on February 25, 2013.

Athens Police began investigating Uren in March of 2010.

Police say he would write a prescription for Soma, Lortab or Demerol and give it to someone else who would then deliver the medication back to Dr. Uren.

Athens Police put a wire on the witness going to meet Uren. Investigators arrested Uren when the delivery was made.

Uren is charged with conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime, distribution of a controlled substance and obtaining controlled substances by fraud.

The status of Uren's medical license in Alabama is unknown.
