Sex offender found working near school | Crime

Athens Police arrested a convicted sex offender Tuesday when he allegedly violated the sex offender’s act.

Police said Michael Kent was arrested when he was found working within 2000 feet of Athens Middle School.

The law requires a sex offender in Alabama to work more than 2000 feet from a school or childcare facility.

Kent was convicted in 1995 of criminal sexual misconduct for having sex with a 15-year-old girl.
