Public to be heard at draft plan meeting | Community Spirit
The draft for future Athens development will be presented on Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. in a special Athens Planning Commission meeting.
“A Vision for Athens: A Future Land Use and Development Plan” was created after City Planner Mac Martin conducted a survey and held several workshops to hear the public’s input on issues from residential and commercial development to funding priorities. Martin said some challenges for Athens will be meeting the needs of citizens in a way that maximizes benefits to the community.
The public will be able to see the draft plan and make comments at the Oct. 22 meeting. After the presentation, the draft plan will be available at City Hall, the Athens-Limestone Public Library, and online here.
The Athens Planning Commission will hold another public hearing at the Nov. 19 meeting at 5:45 p.m. in the Athens Police Department’s Municipal Court area.
