Get ready to Duck and Run! | Community Spirit
Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful is hosting their 10th Annual Duck and Run 5K Race on September 21.
This certified 5K will take runners and walkers alike through the historic neighborhoods of downtown Athens and around the Courthouse Square. The race will begin at 8 a.m., and the one mile fun run will begin at 9 a.m. Both runs will end at Big Spring Memorial Park in Athens.
Preregistration at $20 will end on September 14, after which the registration fee will go up to $25. Registration for the one mile fun run is $10. Participants can register online at www.KALBCares.com or at www.active.com. Runners can also print off the form from the KALB website and mail it in.
Packet pickup and late registration will be on September 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fleet Feet in Huntsville and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the KALB office.
HealthSource Chiropractic and Progressive Rehab of Athens will offer $1/minute massages on the race day. Money raised from this service will go to KALB.
The 5K awards ceremony will be held after the fun run, with awards presented to the first place overall male and female, first place masters (over 40) male and female, and to the first three finishers in both male and female age groups. A “Mid-Pack Cast Award” and “Best of Limestone County” will be presented, and a cash prize will be given to a randomly selected registered runner, who must be present.
Proceeds from this event will go to KALB, a local affiliate of Keep America Beautiful.
