Athens, AL (WAFF) - Grammy nominated blues-rockers the Alabama Shakes are helping out a good cause in the Tennessee Valley.

The Athens natives donated a signed guitar for the 25th Annual Hospice of Limestone County Chili Challenge and Silent Auction.

Railroad Bazaar donated the guitar, while Shakes lead singer Brittany Howard donated the bag. The guitar is a powder puff blue Squire Fender Stratocaster.

Howard's father, K.J. Howard, and grandmother Helen West, who is a respite worker for Hospice, delivered the guitar and accessories to the Hospice office on Thursday afternoon and presented them to Hospice board member Betty Hamm.

Those who want to bid on the guitar and accessories must have a ticket to attend the Chili Challenge and Silent Auction. Cost is $10. Tickets are available at the Hospice office on Marion Street or will be available at the door the day of the event. The event will be Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Athens High's old gym.
